If you long for legs like Jennifer Lopez and the thought of exposing your pins this summer fills you with dread due to unsightly spider veins or lumps and bumps, don’t despair. Lots of women hide their legs in trousers and dark tights because of visible veins and cellulite, which can seriously affect their confidence.
However, there are now a number of simple treatments, such as sclerotherapy and endermologie LPG, which are both available at The Clinic on Belfast’s Lisburn Road and can ensure you have enviable legs in time for summer.
Sclerotherapy
Thread veins usually appear near the surface of the skin and are red, blue or purple in colour and less than 1 to 2 mm in diameter. The problem often becomes worse with pregnancy and age. But now there is a straightforward and accessible solution. Sclerotherapy is a simple procedure performed by our skilled practitioner, which involves injecting a solution into the vein using a micro-needle, thereby causing the vein to fade from view.
The treatment which takes approximately an hour is pain free and is suitable for all skin types. Many clients have the treatment during their lunch break as there is no recovery time required. One treatment is often enough to deal with the problem however some cases may require six to eight weeks to see full results, which is why it is important to plan ahead and complete any treatment ahead of summer.
Endermologie LPG
If you also have concerns about cellulite, endermologie LPG can help. It is a non-invasive technique which can reduce the appearance of dimpled cellulite skin, which often appears on the thighs and upper legs, even in those who are fit. The look of cellulite does not necessarily diminish with weight loss and liposuction fails to address the top layer of fat under the skin where cellulite, which is why endermologie LPG is often recommended by surgeons as a pre and post liposuction treatment.
Originally devised for injuries to muscles, endermologie LPD is now used as a high tech way of delivering a deep tissue lymphatic drainage massage to the skin to improve the appearance of cellulite. Using a hand piece that vigorously ‘rollers’ the skin, it targets the connective tissue just beneath the surface and is able to go much, much deeper than the therapist’s hands, with specific manoeuvres tailored to treat different cellulite types.
Clients are recommended to allow an hour for the treatment which is non-invasive and similar to a gentle massage, although some areas with dense cellulite may be uncomfortable. Benefits include reduction of water retention and bloating, breakdown and elimination of fat cells, detoxification, cellulite reduction and the stimulation of collagen to produce stronger, firmer skin.
All procedures are administered by a fully qualified aesthetic practitioner. Prior to any treatment the experienced team at The Clinic will discuss the process and talk through any questions or concerns you might have. So if you want legs you can be proud to show off this summer rather than hiding them in trousers and long dresses, come to The Clinic for your free consultation and you could have perfectly smooth and blemish free legs in time to flash your pins this summer.
In addition to these treatments, The Clinic also offers a full range of the latest and most advanced non-surgical cosmetic face and body treatments, including Botox, Restylane, Perlane and Juvéderm Ultra.
